A note published on that Ministry’s official website highlights the participation in that forum, which has been active since 2011, of Giorgio Silli, Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who visited Cuba on March 18-20.
Silli and Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodríguez co-chaired the March 19 talks, which focused “on political and economic relations, investment opportunities, and the status of the bilateral agreement negotiations,” the report states.
The report adds that climate change, sustainable development, and an exchange of views on some of the leading international topics, including the complex situation in Haiti, the conflict in Ukraine, and the war in the Middle East, were addressed among the multilateral issues.
Rodríguez thanked Italy for its support to the United Nations for the resolution against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.
The document highlights that, among the activities parallel to that meeting, Silli met with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez and Cuban First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Oscar Pérez-Oliva.
The source adds that he also held talks with Cuban Deputy Culture Minister Fernando León and representatives of the community of Italian residents in Cuba.
