Investigators seized the server infrastructure of the Nemesis Market platform in Germany and Lithuania, as well as cryptocurrencies worth 94,000 euros, the Federal Criminal Investigation Office informed in a joint statement with prosecutors in Frankfurt.
The seizure was made following an investigation in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service, the statement noted.
The Nemesis Market platform operated on the dark web, a part of the Internet that can be only accessed through specialized tools that provide more anonymity.
It was founded in 2021, had over 150,000 users’ accounts and more than 1,100 accounts for sales worldwide, nearly 20 percent of the latter in Germany, according to authorities.
