Four Cuban boxers to Independence Cup finals in DR

Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, Mar 21 (Prensa Latina) Four Cuban boxers guaranteed their pass to the final of the 43rd Independence Cup, which will be held at the amphitheater of the Technological University of Santiago de los Caballeros, in the north of the country, it was reported today.

The event is suspended this Thursday and the Grand Final will be tomorrow at 19:00, local time, when the winners of the gold medals and the champion country will be defined.

On the eve, Cuban Rogelandy Delis Muñoz recovered from a fall in the first round to win 3-2 against Julian Ortiz from Puerto Rico, obtaining the silver medal in the 63.5 kilograms (kg).

Meanwhile, Jorge Daniel Forcades defeated local Freudi Franco by RSC in the 71 kg division.

Another Cuban who already won the second place medal in the Copa Independencia de Boxeo was Manuel Soto Nápoles in the 80 kg, who was declared the winner by RSC in the second round, against Johnny Hurtado, from Ecuador.
