On a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, El-Sisi reaffirmed his call for an immediate cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, which has been under attack for 167 days.
The president alerted Blinken that innocent civilians in Gaza Strip are exposed to a humanitarian catastrophe and an unprecedented famine, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian presidency.
El-Sisi further stressed the need to take urgent measures to allow the entry of sufficient quantities of humanitarian aid into the Strip.
The head of State also advocated for resuming peace talks leading to the creation of an independent Palestinian State within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Blinken arrived in the morning in this capital as part of his sixth regional tour since the onset of Israel’s war against Palestine on October 7.
