On its X profile, the Cuban Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its interest in continuing to strengthen diplomatic relations and the ties of cooperation and solidarity that unite Cuba with that people, which it described as glorious and brotherly.
Namibia proclaimed its definitive independence on March 21, 1990, and elected Sam Nujoma as president of the new independent state.
Both Cuba and Namibia forged their ties in the heat of the struggle against the apartheid regime, and the bonds of friendship that united their historic leaders, Fidel Castro and Nujoma.
Such ties are expressed and consolidated with the cooperation and solidarity that has allowed the training of doctors, engineers and teachers from the African country in Cuba.
