In the usual Wednesday press conference from the Presidential House, the Minister, after thanking the US contribution of US$40 million for 2024-2025 period, explained that an interceptor and patrol boat station will also be built in the Caribbean province of Limón.
In addition to these two constructions, Zamora pointed out that technology, infrastructure and training are key elements to face threats from criminal groups, “which use our waters for smuggling drugs and weapons”.
In turn, the U.S. Ambassador to Costa Rica, Cynthia Telles, recalled that since 2021, when she took office, she received reports that Costa Rica would become the world’s largest hub for drug trafficking to the United States and Europe.
