In the last few hours on Tuesday and the first hours on Wednesday, strong winds lashed the city, with gusts of over 100 kilometers per hour, according to meteorological reports.
Several thousands of people were left without electricity service in the department.
Meanwhile, the Uruguayan Meteorological Institute (INUMET) extended its double orange and yellow alert for strong storms and heavy rains for most of the country on Wednesday.
It is raining in Montevideo and sometimes the wind blows strong, particularly on the Rambla, in front of Rio de la Plata.
