China extends to Latin America its way of cementing multilateral relations by creating a bridge instead of high walls and an indispensable partner moving away from hegemony, a senior official in charge of relations with the region said, according to Diario El Salvador.

A review by Amanda Hernández, special envoy of Diario El Salvador in Beijing, stressed that “the development of Latin American countries is now more independent for China while raising the level of regional integration, which this nation will continue to support “firmly.”

That statement is attributed to Qiu Xiaoqi, China’s Special Representative for Latin America and Caribbean Affairs, who, in a conversation with Latin American journalists, reiterated that there are multilateral issues of interest.

The spirit of cooperation that China offers is far from being the “threat” portrayed by United States media, Qiu stressed.

The “real and objective” version is that Beijing is “an indispensable partner that seeks neither hegemony nor arrogance” but a “shared future,” he noted.

The official stated that China wants to work with Latin America to reject jointly the Cold War mentality, interference, coercion, and sanctions. We firmly support the countries of this region to strengthen peace, solidarity, and bilateral relations for the Global South.
