Cuba´s CACSA strengthens ties at Russian Tourism Fair

Moscow, Mar 20 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Aviation Corporation S.A. (CACSA) attending the Russian Tourism Fair on Wednesday strengthened ties with its counterparts to boost arrival of travelers to Cuba.

Joanka Acosta, CACSA´s Commercial Director, told Prensa Latina that this is the first edition of the Russian International Tourism and Hotel Trade Fair (MITT) in which CACSA is attending to.

“We came to this MITT´s 30th session together with the Cuban Tourism Ministry (MINTUR) to step up actions in order to attract not only tour operators, but also airlines present at this event and show them the benefits and potential of our destination,” said Acosta.

In this regard, Acosta added that prior to the event, the Cuban delegation exchanged standpoints with their counterparts from Russian airlines Aeroflot, Rossiya and Nordwing, with whom they analyzed feasibility of flights and possible increased flight frequencies to different destinations including Villa Clara and Holguín provinces.

Acosta explained that among achievements of CACSA’s presence at the Fair is the interaction with commercial representations of airline companies from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Egypt, which expressed their interest in starting off by operating flights to Cuba.

“We also exchanged with Turkish Airlines, which has four weekly flights to Havana and is betting this year to add a fifth one, which is also an important bridge for connections to Russia,” she said.

Acosta said that for the present period, CACSA has a capitalization program for its companies that provide services to tourism, “the first task is to guarantee airport infrastructure”.

“In spite of the fact that Cuba´s economic plight is too complicated, we set the goal of maintaining sustainability of the aviation system, and with it the 10 international airports spread nationwide”, she stated.
