Syrian DM Abbas accuses the U.S. of supporting terrorism

Damascus, Mar 17 (Prensa Latina) Syrian Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Ali Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday lambasted the United States and accused it of supporting terrorism and separatism in Syria, the media reported.

Washington wastes no opportunity to destroy stability and security in the region, Abbas said in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Reza Ashtiani at the Iranian Defense Ministry headquarters in Tehran.

Abbas assured that the U.S. military deployment in Syria is unlawful and deemed that the U.S. military bases have become nests to support separatist and terrorist groups.

The Persian minister, on the other hand, warned that any strategic mistake by the United States and Israel would lead to an escalated situation in the region.

Ashtiani condemned the Israeli attacks over Syria, and assured that his country will take pressing measures to strengthen the Syrian army’s deterrent force ahead of such aggressive actions by Tel Aviv.
