Italy reported 738 cases and 41 deaths weekly due to Covid-19

Rome, Mar 16 (Prensa Latina) From March 7 to 13 Italy recorded 738 cases of Covid-19, 26,1% less than the previous week, but deaths rose to 41, an increase of 32,3 percentage points, a report said.

According to the latest statistics of the Superior Institute of Health (ISS), in this last evaluated period, the positivity rate decreased to 0,6%, 0,2 percentage points lower than that observed from February 29 to March 6, while the transmissibility index (Rt) rose to 0,84, still below the epidemic threshold.

The bed occupancy rate in general hospital wards also fell from 1,8 to 1,4 percentage points, with only 880 patients admitted for the disease, and 28 seriously infected patients in intensive care occupying only 0,3% of the beds.

The percentage of reinfections is 43,0%, while the most widespread variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is the Omicron JN.1, with 61,5% of patients infected as a result of infection with this virus.
