According to a press release from the diplomatic mission, the PM recalled his close friendship with the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, and with Raul Castro, as well as the magnificent relationship and closeness with President Miguel Diaz-Canel.
Gonsalves stood out different moments in the relations between the two nations, such as Cuba’s solidarity aid for the construction of the Argyle International Airport, the hospital in the town of Georgetown and the presence of dozens of collaborators in health and construction.
Cuba’s “work is highly appreciated and necessary for the Vincentian people,” the PM said.
The top leader praised the visits paid by Diaz-Canel in December 2022 and at the recently held 8th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), and took the opportunity to congratulate Ambassador Leyva and his wife for the successful performance of their duties in over four years.
On his speech, Leyva thanked the permanent support of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in its condemnation of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba and the country’s unfair inclusion in Washington’s unilateral States Sponsoring Terrorism (STT).
The diplomat acknowledged authorities and the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the successes attained at the CELAC Summit, held in this country on March 1, remarking the sisterhood and indestructible nature of bilateral relations.
