According to an official report, the new route will bear the name of General Omar Torrijos Herrera (1929-1981) and seeks to streamline customs procedures and maintain competitiveness in the sector, to generate greater cargo mobility and increase efficiency as a country.
The Dry Canal will be integrated by railroads, roads, highways, international airports, free trade zones, special economic areas, ports and private companies authorized for international trade and border crossings, which provide services, according to the provision.
Logistics warehouses authorized by the National Customs Authority are also part of the system.
The Minister Counselor for the Facilitation of Private Investment, José Alejandro Rojas, explained that this project will speed up the movement of goods through the isthmus and improve clearance times.
According to the official, Panama seeks to modernize and update its platform to maintain competitiveness in the logistics sector and carry out transport operations with current assets.
