The president of the TSE, Dora Esmeralda Martínez de Barahona, told the press media that the minutes ratifying the election were signed by the five magistrates on Wednesday, a procedure communicated to the political institutes that night and disclosed on the web page of the governing body of the elections.
This is a necessary step for the publication of the decree in the Official Gazette and the delivery of credentials to the new officials on Wednesday, March 20, at the Tribunal’s headquarters hotel.
The new parliamentarians will begin their term of office from May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2027 and as a highlight is the supermajority of the New Ideas party with 54 deputies out of 60, against two from Alianza Republicana Nacionalista (Arena), two from the Partido de Concertación Nacional (PCN), one from Vamos and one from the Partido Demócrata Cristiano (PDC).
Likewise, the TSE anticipated that the credentials for municipal councils and the Central American Parliament (Parlacen) could be delivered between the first and second week of April.
The elected president, Nayib Bukele, will assume his new mandate on June 1 until the elections of 2029 when there should be a change of government.
