In the annual meeting of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER), held on Wednesday, the head of State stressed that sport is one of the achievements of the Revolution; therefore, it must be defended in all scenarios.
Diaz-Canel pointed out that more participation must be given to technicians, athletes, coaches, and all workers in decision-making in the sector.
He urged to promote sports in neighborhoods and communities, hiring abroad, and professional training in sports schools.
The Cuban leader urged to apply all three pillars of government management in the sports movement: science and innovation, digital transformation and social communication.
Diaz-Canel encouraged to share the best experiences among the sector’s staff to fight off the United States blockade and support the implementation of the Government’s recent economic measures.
“In the shortest term, we have to set the goal of recovering the best historic results in sports that were once strongholds, especially the collective ones, where we have potential,” Diaz-Canel reflected.
The president commented that although the competitive scenario has changed, Cuba continues to be a power in the area and at world level.
