Through his account in the social network X, the president conveyed his congratulations and pointed out that press workers are called to be ‘like Martí’s newspaper Patria, a sword, whose hilt is reason’.
Previously, Esteban Lazo, President of the National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament), highlighted on the platform the essential work carried out by journalists ‘in providing timely information to our people, in the defense of the Revolution and in the strengthening of our work’.
Cuban leaders of social and political organizations expressed their congratulations to journalists for the National Press Day, celebrated every March 14 in memory of the first issue of the Patria newspaper, founded in 1892 by National Hero José Martí to join wills in favor of the pro-independence and revolutionary cause.
This Thursday, the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) will present the awards for the work, life and year to outstanding professionals, in commemoration of the date.
Cuban journalists organization UPEC said they are committed to the search for a new public communication and press model for socialism.
Likewise, externally, they are weaving the necessary alliances and articulations for the greater cause of humanity, without which Cuba’s role in the balance of the world would be uncertain.
