Venezuelan Prosecutor revealed new assassination plan on President

Caracas, March 13 (Prensa Latina) The Attorney General of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, today denounced a new assassination plan against President Nicolás Maduro, in which two Venezuelan citizens now detained and prosecuted by justice are involved.

In a press conference from the Public Ministry, the senior official explained the details of why a former military deserter from the Bolivarian National Guard and an apparent political leader were arrested in the city of Maturín, state of Monagas, northeast of the country.

Saab explained that both were initially arrested on March 11 for publishing “very serious threats” inciting murder, assassination again against the head of state, at the same time that the president was visiting that city.

He indicated that preliminary investigations reveal that behind the “public and notorious threats”, there is evidence of a new conspiracy, but continued since 2018.

He alluded to the attempted assassination with drones that year, the attempted attack in 2019, the mercenary incursion known as Operation Gideon in 2020, and the five planned attempts from May 2023 to date.

The head of the Public Ministry considered how impressively all these acts were carried out in a concatenated manner in different places in the country, and stated that they all obey the same line of command “both national and international.”

He commented that these people “seem to not cease” in their desire to bathe the country in blood, in inciting hatred and revenge.

Saab pointed out that both citizens belong to a political organization called Unidos por Monagas and warned that desperation is the “mother of hate and crime.”

In his intervention, the Venezuelan jurist showed an image capture from the social networks of one of those involved in which one can read that “Maturín will be the death of Maduro.”

He insisted that these actions are repeated one after another so “no one can think or be incredulous that they are isolated events.”

The attorney general announced that both individuals are convicted and confessed, and will be presented before an anti-terrorism court for the crimes of conspiracy, association and attempted assassination.

He also questioned how this case was initially intended to be distorted by some international media that serve as transnational media in the dirty war against Venezuela to distort very serious events like this.

Saab stressed that no one can think in the middle of the electoral pre-campaign process about actions like these, without knowing that the full weight of the law will fall on them and no one can be excused for what he is doing.
