According to local authorities, the Russian military operating in the city of Qamishli delivered a shipment of medicines to the provincial Health Governorship of said region, about 600 kilometers northeast of the capital.
The deputy security commander of the group of Russian troops in Syria, Major General Sergei Kashkov, considered that this humanitarian step reflects the friendship between Russia and Syria, and is within the context of Russia’s support for the Syrian people in all fields. The officer revealed that more aid will be distributed soon, especially in the city center of Hasakeh, with an average of three shipments per month.
The provincial health director, Issa Khalaf, declared that the medicines delivered will be distributed to medical centers to improve the level of health care services to citizens.
In parallel, with the delivery of aid, a team of Russian military doctors assisted 76 children with autism who were receiving treatment at the Syrian Medical Society Center.
Moreover, the doctors registered the names of the mutilated people who were willing to receive lower limb prostheses. They will then be transported to Damascus and treated, completely free of charge, with the support of Russia.
More than four thousand humanitarian aid operations have been carried out since 2015, during which around 600 thousand tons of food, medicine, and basic materials were delivered.
