The reconnaissance team departed from the border port of Khorgos, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, to coordinate various issues, including key points along the route, available infrastructure, security requirements and logistical needs of participants.

In addition to those details, the rally’s “road book” will include a professional navigation text based on the event’s rules framework and the geographic, topographic and facility (such as gas stations) situation.

The team in charge of preparing those details will use Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) icons and symbols for each competition unit or stage of the race.

The Silk Road Rally and Central Asian Friendship Journey will include routes across countries such as Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan from May 8 to 18, starting from Xinjiang in northwest China.

The encounter will be the preamble to the Taklimakan Rally, the largest competition of its kind with the largest number of participants and vehicles in Asia, which will take place from May 20 to June 1 in the same autonomous region.
