Minister of the Interior of Kenya Kithure Kindiki recalled on Monday that the bilateral agreement was signed on the 1st of this month, and Kenya is the nation that will lead the multinational mission; he went on to add that other countries also committed to sending troops as part of the United Nations Security Council initiative.
The Prime Minister of Haiti, Ariel Henry, announced that he will resign from office, and said that he accepts the installation of a transitional presidential council, whose members will be chosen after an agreement between different sectors of that national.
Violence in Haiti increased considerably late in February after Henry’s announcement to hold elections before the end of August 2025, although his term was due to end on February 7th.
In October 2023, the UN authorized sending a mission to support Haiti’s security forces in combating armed gangs, which have raised chaos in the country.
