The hearing will take place at the headquarters of the Federal Police in Brasilia to confront Lieutenant Colonel Cid with the statements issued by General Marco Antônio Freire Gomes and other commanders.

According to journalist Bela Megale, from the O Globo newspaper, the officers aligned with Bolsonaro consider that Cid would delve deeper into the analysis of the role played by each member of the Army.

The perception is that Cid tried to protect his colleagues in the Armed Forces involved in the alleged coup plot, however, the progress of the investigations may show that the officers played more important roles.

According to the Federal Police, the plot was intended to keep Bolsonaro in power and prevent the set in office of president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who won the October 2022 elections.

The former president (2019-2022) denies any participation in activities against democracy.

Before deciding to collaborate with the authorities, the lieutenant colonel remained in preventive detention for five months, by order of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF.
