The political event and military ceremony began with wreaths on behalf of Army General and founder of the 2nd Front, Raúl Castro, and the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
National People’s Power Assembly (Parliament) President and Council of State President Esteban Lazo Hernández and 2,000 local citizens also attended the event.
Beatriz Johnson, member of the PCC Central Committee and First Secretary in Santiago de Cuba; Antonio Muguercia, Brigadier General and head of the Military Region in this Cuban province; and Acting Governor Manuel Falcón presided over the ceremony.
Colonel (R) Alberto Vázquez García, Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba and founder of the Front, and other initiators of that epic led by Raúl Castro on March 11, 1958, participated as special guests.
The 2nd Front is recognized in the history of Cuba as a model of the organization of what would be shortly after the work of the Revolution in those mountain ranges and nationwide.
