According to a report from the Benemérito Cuerpo de Bomberos (Deserving Firefighters Corps), since early this morning they have been trying to control the flames at the top of the landfill, a work that continues.
Lieutenant Colonel Angel Delgado noted that to extinguish the fire they activated personnel from the San Miguelito, Carrasquilla and Calidonia stations, as well as machinery from the Sewage Authority, tankers of the National Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers are at the site of the fire, which is also being fought with equipment of the National Air and Naval Service.
Since very early in the morning, the smoke, spread by the strong breeze, covered several points of the capital city. Delgado asked people traveling near this place to be very careful.
Meanwhile, on social media, several alarming messages questioned the management of solid waste in Panama.
