The Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, chaired the meeting with the officers and civil authorities to outline measures to guarantee the integrity of the Dominican Government’s officials and those from sister nations who live in Haiti, according to the Presidency’s website.
Logistical aspects of fuel supply, migration procedures, medical care, and first aid were analyzed during the meeting.
The use of the Jimani International Airport in Independencia province and the Higüero International Airport as supply and assembly points was also considered.
According to the same source, this aid corridor will also ensure compliance with sanitary measures to preserve the population’s health.
The Military, Naval, and Air Advisor of the Executive Power, a representative of the National Investigation Directorate, the Director General of the Specialized Corps of Airport and Civil Aviation Security, and the Director General of Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the meeting along with Díaz Morfa.
The civil institutions of the State were represented by Civil Aviation Board President José Marte Piantini and its secretary, Paola Pla Puello, Deputy Health Minister Eladio Pérez Antonio, and Migration Control Director Yudelka García.
