Cuban vice president lauds humanity of Quisicuaba Project

Havana, Mar 9 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés affirmed on Saturday that Quisicuaba is a very noble and humane project.

During a visit to the Agricultural Camp and the Assisted Living Center, located in the Artemisa municipality of San Antonio de los Baños, Valdés highlighted the attention to residents who were previously street dwellers.

They have worked hard, he said when referring to the maintenance of the property that houses 103 people, and that in the immediate future will have a total of 580 inhabitants.

On this regard, Quisicuaba President Enrique Alemán noted that all conditions have been created in terms of food and logistics for women and men “who we will always carry on our shoulders.”

The Cuban vice president was interested in the crops and care of 60 hectares of land of the Camp owns, and urged everyone to plant every possible space.

The director of the well-known “Orange Point of Cuban geography,” Yadelkys Hernández, indicated that pumpkins, sweet potatoes and okra are now produced, which also complement the food provided by the Project in the Soup Kitchen, the oldest work of the Institution.

Valdés also learned about the livestock module, the lagoon for freshwater fish and other initiatives carried out by the Camp workers.

He concluded that this project is an example that it can always be done, “and we have to defend it.”
