San Salvador, Mar 8 (Prensa Latina) Women are the majority today among the 20 Salvadoran representatives to the Central American Parliament (Parlacen) with 13 seats, after concluding the vote count of the elections of March 3.

The site of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) showed last night this result that gives, for the first time in years, a greater representation to Salvadoran women, coinciding with today’s celebration of International Women’s Day.

The data disclosed on the official site of the governing body of the elections, besides reflecting the advance of women, show their composition by political entities.

New Ideas won 13 seats, two seats from the Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA), two from the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN), two from the Grand Alliance for National Unity (GANA), and one from the Christian Democratic Party (PDC).

Once the Parlacen count was concluded, the TSE anticipated that this Friday it expects to conclude the definitive count of municipal councils, and the projection indicates that the New Ideas party will win 28 mayoralties, two of them in coalition with Cambio Democrático, Gana with six, the Christian Democratic Party (PDC) with four, Concertación Nacional (PCN) with three, and PCN and PDC in coalition with one.
