The victims were members of the National Defense Forces and were killed in an ambush by the Islamic State, Daesh in Arabic, a group on the list of international terrorism, according to the sources.
The incident occurred in the area of Tal Salamah, in the desert areas of the province of Homs, in the center of the country, they said.
The Syrian army and allied militias sent reinforcements to different points of the Syrian desert in the provinces of Homs, Hama, Raqa and Deir Ezzor, where Daesh increased its attacks.
Last Wednesday, at least 47 civilians were killed by Daesh terrorists in the Kabajeb desert in Deir Ezzor province, some 450 kilometers northeast of Damascus, the capital.
By Damascus’ allegations, the remnant Daesh terrorists intensified their attacks, particularly after the U.S. bombings against military points of the Syrian army and its allies in the east of the country last February. This Levantine nation’s government also affirmed that these radicals receive logistical support, protection and intelligence information from the US military illegally deployed in the nearby Tanef area in the east of the country.
Since its defeat in 2018, analysts claim that Daesh resorts to gang warfare and attacks supported by clear intelligence instructions to wear down Syrian troops and their allies.
Syria faces a war imposed since 2011, and although its army, with the support of its allies Russia and Iran, liberated most of the national territory from radicals, some attacks occur that Damascus attributes to groups supported from abroad to continue destabilizing the country.
