Russia cares little about Zaluzhny’s appointment as an ambassador

Moscow, Mar 8 (Prensa Latina) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's decision to appoint former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Valery Zaluzhny, as an Ambassador to London cares little for Russia, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.

The presidential spokesman, who answered a question from journalists accredited to the Russian Government, pointed out that such actions are an internal affair of the neighboring country’s leaders and in no way influence Moscow’s policy or the course of the special military operation.

On March 7, Zelensky agreed to nominate the former commander-in-chief of the country’s Armed Forces as a Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry sent the corresponding request to the British side to obtain the initial and confidential consent given by a country to accredit the diplomatic representative of another state.

A poll previously reported by the Ukrainian Center for Public Opinion showed Zaluzhny’s capacity to defeat Zelensky and former President Petro Poroshenko in the Ukrainian presidential elections.
