Speaking at the closing session of the of 11th Congress of the Cuban Women’s Federation (FMC), the head of State stressed that cadres come from the ranks of the people and amid difficulties and shortcomings, they choose the path of sacrifice, of doing, creating and transforming.
“The people’s trust is placed in the cadres; their ethics are the shield where all the actions of influence and subversion of the empire have crashed to try to outrage their example,” the president stressed.
He pointed out that the top leaders of the Revolution, Fidel Castro and Raúl Castro, and the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba have shown and will continue to show signs of a frontal, transparent and no-tolerance combat against the expressions of lack of ethics and exemplarity of the cadres, always in the name of the people and for the unity of the country.
In his speech, Díaz-Canel recalled Raúl Castro’s words at the main event on the 65th anniversary of the Revolution, where he called on Cuban cadres to reflect on what more can be done to justify the trust and exemplary support of their compatriots, even amid so many needs.
The president referred to Raúl Castro’s call to “not be naive, nor triumphalist, to avoid bureaucratic responses and any manifestation of routine and insensitivity, to find realistic solutions with what we have without dreaming that something is going to fall from the sky.”
Díaz-Canel assured that Cuban women have a lot to contribute and the revolution needs a lot from Cuban women, not only resisting, but above all, fighting.
He congratulated Teresa Amarelle for her reelection as FMC general secretary and the other women selected to lead the organization, the National Committee and its secretariat.
