At the closing session of the organization’s congress, the women issued a statement rejecting the impunity with which Israel acts, violating the order endorsed by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to adopt immediate and effective measures to protect the Palestinian population, ensure humanitarian assistance and allow basic services.
The statement specifies that the ICJ order was mocked by Israel’s Zionist Government because it has the United States as an ally, a nation that has already vetoed for the third time the resolutions presented to put an end to the massacre.
“We condemn the hegemonic and patriarchal policies of imperialist domination and its allies, which every day endanger world peace, the survival of the human species and the future of the peoples,” it referred.
It further denounces the tightening of the US blockade and Cuba’s inclusion in the unilateral list of States Sponsoring Terrorism, facts that “constitute the main obstacle to the development of our people and a form of direct violence that impacts and hinders the enjoyment of the fundamental rights of Cuban women,” it points out.
FMC’s women, through the statement, also expressed their condemnation of terrorist actions, drug trafficking, organized crime, human trafficking and smuggling and all forms of discrimination and violence against women.
FMC’s members ratified their unconditional solidarity with Palestinian women who for over 75 years have suffered constant attacks, bombings, persecutions, homes’ destruction, deprivation of water and electricity services, actions that constitute serious violations of international humanitarian law. We reaffirm Cuba’s unequivocal position that both Israel and its accomplices must be declared responsible under international law for the worst genocide that the Palestinian people have experienced and are living through for decades, the text states.
FMC’s representatives called on the women worldwide, the leftist and progressive forces not to cease against the massacre committed by Israel against women, girls, children and the entire Palestinian population.
The Federation urged to defend the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to build an independent, free and sovereign State. Likewise, it further called for the establishment of a new international order that favors all equally, to support the struggle and resistance of Saharawi women, to protect the environment, as well as to keep anti-imperialist feelings high.
At the closing session, the Federation of Cuban Women received congratulatory messages from women’s organizations from China, Laos, Spain, Portugal, Vietnam and the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic.
