According to the newspaper, the strike is aimed at denouncing cuts on the sector’s budget made by Javier Milei’s government, the loss of purchasing power of salaries, the authorities’ refusal to negotiate raises and the violation of workers’ rights.
Prior to the strike, a press conference will be held on Monday at 18:30 local time at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires.
In a statement, the Front pointed out that the professionals of the higher education centers have lost more than 50% of the value of their salaries since December 2023, when Milei took office.
The Government misrepresents the basic meaning of a negotiation and does not offer the minimum guarantees to respond to our demands, it adds.
In addition, it urges to defend public education as a right, jobs, decent pensions and the preservation of institutions capable of producing the knowledge that will allow us to solve major problems.
