Havana, Mar 7 (Prensa Latina) The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), in its 11th Congress, debates this Thursday and Friday the 8th of March, International Women's Day, the results of the work in the last five years.

Around 400 delegates and guests will review the work done and the achievements and challenges to face the US blockade against Cuba, FMC Secretary General Teresa Amarelle affirmed.

In a recent press briefing, Amarelle informed that the meeting promotes a critical, respectful, and in-depth debate in four working commissions, and issues related to the country’s socio-economic development will be discussed in plenary sessions.

Issues related to women’s inclusion in agricultural production, employment in the private sector, and teenage pregnancy will also be analyzed.

The event also includes tributes to women, colloquia, exhibitions, fairs, women entrepreneurs’ meetings, training workshops, and other activities contributing to Cuban women’s knowledge and improvement.

Founded on August 23, 1960, at the dawn of the Revolution, the FMC has enabled Cuban women to discuss their concerns and participate in the country’s social, economic, and political transformations.

This 11th Congress is devoted to the legacy of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and other outstanding figures such as Mariana Grajales and Vilma Espín, and also to relevant historical dates in the country.
