Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Qusay Al-Dahhak, remarked during a session of the General Assembly.

The brutal aggression and genocidal war unleashed by the Israeli occupying forces against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip coincide with a constant effort by the Israeli regime authorities to liquidate UNRWA and exacerbate the Palestinians’ suffering, Al-Dahhak said in his speech.

UNRWA’s role is fundamental and indispensable in helping the Palestinian people, and any attempt to eliminate it would further Tel Aviv’s plans to liquidate the right of return and the Palestinian cause, the diplomat stated.

He urged donor countries that have stopped funding this agency to reverse their decision and resume funding as soon as possible.

Al-Dahhak reiterated the need to end the Israeli aggression against Gaza, deliver humanitarian aid without obstacles, and prevent forced displacement.

At the end of his speech, the Syrian ambassador warned of the disastrous consequences of any Israeli invasion of Rafah and the Israeli escalation in the region, embodied in the repeated aggressions against Syria and Lebanon, which threaten regional and international peace and security.
