The collective exhibition, coordinated by outstanding documentary filmmaker and photographer Roberto Chile, depicts snapshots by some 20 photojournalists from different generations to display high aesthetic values and perpetuate transcendental moments of Cuban events.
This selection of images evokes the history of Cuba and contains the spirit of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, his example, and his legacy through moments lived since the second half of the last century, the organizers stated.
The Cuban Press Day celebration began laying a wreath at the tomb of patriot and journalist Juan Gualberto Gómez (1854-1933) in Havana’s Colón Cemetery on the 91st anniversary of his death. It will end by holding the 3rd Patria International Colloquium from March 18 to 20.
The program includes the presentation of the Félix Elmusa Award to outstanding professionals in the sector and the José Martí and Juan Gualberto Gómez National Journalism Prizes.
The Cuban Press Day is celebrated every year on March 14 to honor the founding of Patria (Homeland) newspaper by National Hero José Martí in 1892 to disseminate patriotic and revolutionary ideas in preparation for the final liberation war against Spanish colonialism. jrr/iff/jha/evm
