Wreaths on behalf of Army General Raul Castro and the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel, were laid at the foot of the tomb of the legendary guerrilla fighter.
Other floral arrangements were laid on behalf of the president of the National People’s Power Assembly and the Council of State, Esteban Lazo, and the Cuban people, who were represented by the inhabitants of that municipality in Sierra Maestra, more than 100 kilometers from the city of Santiago de Cuba.
Anisleydis Rodríguez, first secretary of the Young Communist League (UJC) in the Tercer Frente (Third Front) municipality, referred to the impact of the founding and actions of the guerrilla front in a territory submerged by poverty and lack of basic services, a situation that was reversed by the Revolution.
