Education workers to protest in Argentina

argentina-1
Buenos Aires, Mar 6 (Prensa Latina) The Confederation of Education Workers of Argentina (CTERA) announced today the celebration tomorrow of a national day of protest against the Government's adjustment and for better salaries.

According to this organization, the main act will take place at 10:00, local time, in front of the Congress, and representatives from all the provinces and sectors harmed by the policies of the Executive led by Javier Milei will participate.

In addition, the deputies who presented bills to finance public education have been invited.

CTERA demands the realization of a national paritaria (negotiation between employers and employees) and an urgent salary increase.

In addition, it demands the payment of the Teacher Incentive Fund, the allocations for school lunchrooms, and national educational programs.

They will also denounce the serious situation of retirees.

After assuming the presidency of Argentina last December, the leader of La Libertad Avanza implemented an adjustment plan that included a 118 percent devaluation of the peso, severe cuts, and the elimination of subsidies and public works, among other measures that worsened the situation of all employees.

On January 24, the General Confederation of Labor carried out a national strike and during the last weeks, numerous groups carried out similar actions.

This day is the first of three called by the Metallurgical Workers Union.
