A communiqué from the Central Board of Directors of APU rejects the investigations by officials of the Interior Ministry (MI) against the reporter.
Preve unfolded on Monday that the police initiated an investigation into his sources linked to the telephone interception system “The Guardian” and other intelligence and security issues.
According to the journalist himself, Interior Minister Nicolas Martinelli has been aware of the investigation since November 2023.
The APU considered that any type of investigation, monitoring, or form of pressure on a media worker, “is not only a serious affront to freedom of expression, but a very dangerous symptom of the weakening of fundamental democratic values.”
“The CDC of the APU demands that the public authorities, and all members of the political establishment work to clarify those facts and, what is even foremost, to arrange the pertinent actions and controls so that they do not happen again,” the statement concludes.
