Ricardo Ronquillo, President of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC), told Prensa Latina that this day is being held in an unusual situation, both from the point of view of communication and the complex situation of the country, a constant target of the hybrid war.
Ronquillo noted that the celebration comes at a time when the Revolution is in a communication counteroffensive because almost all those who defend the search for a new horizon for humanity’s problems see Cuba as a reference.
The UPEC leader emphasized that the event would take place after the celebration of the 11th Congress of the organization, whose leading focus was transforming the Cuban public communication and public press system in the new current context and the search for a new socialist model.
He recalled that the organization is celebrating this day after essential events that showed that the Revolution was overcoming media aggression.
Ronquillo referred to the New Operation Truth Forum, organized by the Latin American News Agency, Prensa Latina, in January this year, when specialists and media executives from several regions of the world met in Havana.
