The initiative originated during an International Conference on Energy Efficiency held in Austria in 1998 and agreed to create a day for caring and making a conscious and responsible use of energy.
At that meeting, participants debated strategies to expand energy diversification through other supplies, including renewable energy and reducing fossil fuels.
Energy efficiency seeks to improve the quality of life without harming recourses and optimizing energy through other more sustainable fountains, introducing the practice of recycling, using clean energy sources, and solar and wind energies, among others.
It also includes using energy-saving light bulbs, turning lights off when in use, not leaving mobile phone chargers plugged in, and washing and ironing clothes in only one time.
