“The BRICS has already surpassed the G7 in purchasing power parity (PPP), accounting for 35.6 percent of the global Gross Domestic Product (GDP), while the G7 accounts for 30.3 percent. By 2028, the situation will change even more in favor of the BRICS, with 36.6 percent against 27.8 percent,” Ushakov detailed.
The presidential aide also reminded that Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized this issue in his speech at the Federal Assembly.
“The collective share of the association’s member states in the global economy is 58.9 trillion dollars. BRICS account for more than one-third of the Earth’s dry land, 45 percent of the world’s population, and over 40 percent of all oil production,” he said.
Ushakov also noted that in the relatively short period of its existence, the BRICS association, which currently includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Egypt, and Iran, has rapidly developed and transformed into an extensive multi-level mechanism of interaction on the global agenda.
Russia took the rotating presidency of the BRICS on January 1, 2024, and will last until the end of the year.
The main event will be the BRICS summit of heads of State in October and the sports games in June. Both will be held in Kazan this year.
