Washington, Mar 4 (Prensa Latina) The World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates the World Day Against Obesity, to publicize the terrible damage that a diet high in fats and sugars entails for the body.

The day is organized by the World Obesity Federation to address this condition, which is reaching epidemic proportions worldwide.

It is estimated that since 1975 obesity tripled, with at least 1.9 billion adult cases in 2016, as well as 340 million children and adolescents. Obesity is understood as an abnormal accumulation of fat that can lead to other diseases that are harmful to the body.

Obesity is the first step to other pathologies such as high blood pressure, type II diabetes, high cholesterol and triglyceride levels, osteoarticular problems, cancer risk, sleep apnea and cardiovascular problems.

Meanwhile, the only way to prevent obesity is to have a much healthier diet and not to go for the well-known fast food, which has all the elements to generate morbid obesity.

In addition to a good diet, it is necessary that people have an exercise routine that allows them to avoid the accumulation of fat due to a sedentary lifestyle.
