While inaugurating on Friday the 142nd ordinary session of Congress, the president accused the media of serving Kirchnerist propaganda (followers of former presidents Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández) and lashed out against such institutions and the professionals who speak out against them.

According to the newspaper Página 12, the workers of Télam received an e-mail informing that, by decision of the controller Diego Chaher, they were excused from performing their duties for a period of seven days and, therefore, they cannot enter the headquarters of that entity.

When trying to access the website, the image of the national coat of arms and the text: Page under reconstruction appear, thus preventing the viewing of all Télam’s audiovisual material.

For this noon, an act of protest by the professionals of this media was planned, but the police deployment may be an attempt against it.

Created on April 14, 1945, Télam has more than 700 employees and is the only national agency with a network of correspondents in all Argentine provinces.
