Havana, Mar 3 (Prensa Latina) Mobilizations throughout Cuba ratified support for the Palestinian people against Israel's genocide, and warned about the threat that looms today over the town of Rafah, where more than one million displaced people remain.

The mass rallies, called by youth and social organizations, took place on Saturday in the provincial capitals and other Cuban cities to demand an immediate ceasefire, the end of the aggression and the withdrawal of the Zionist occupation forces.

In Havana, thousands of people gathered at the José Martí Anti-imperialist Tribune, in the presence of President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Vice President Salvador Valdés, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero and other top leaders, to condemn the genocide.

At the event, the multiple Paralympic champion Omara Durán expressed the solidarity of Cuban women and people with Palestine, and pointed out that after 148 days of massacre, the deaths of more than 30,000 people have been reported.

Such figures do not include those who never reached hospitals or remain under the rubble in the Gaza Strip, devastated by the bombings, she added.

The Cuban athlete noted that among the deceased are some 8,800 women and 13,230 minors, including babies a few months or years old, and denounced that two mothers die every hour in Gaza, while hundreds of women have lost their pregnancies.

Likewise, in the founding square of the city of Matanzas, teachers, children, doctors and representatives of the Cuban Women’s Federation (FMC) joined the world day of support for the Palestinian people, convened by progressive movements and organizations around the world.

In Isla de la Juventud, also in western Cuba, a solidarity march filled Plaza El Pinero, in Nueva Gerona, to denounce the Zionist crimes in the face of the indifference of many governments and the direct complicity of others, national television reported.

Menwhile, in Plaza San Juan de Dios, in Camagüey (east), representatives of the pioneer organizations, the FMC and the Young Communist League (UJC) stated that Israel’s crimes show the failure of diplomacy and current international order to prevent such barbaric acts.

In Sancti Spíritus (center), the General Serafín Sánchez Valdivia major park brought together more than 18,000 Cubans in the name of peace; and in Santa Clara a mass march toured the city from Los Mártires Park to Vidal Park.

Participants in all the events denounced Washington’s complicity in the massacre by continually making use of its right to veto in the United Nations Security Council to block the resolutions presented by several countries in favor of peace in those territories.
