Presidents of Venezuela and Brazil spoke in St. Vincent Grenadines

Kingstown, March 1 (Prensa Latina) The presidents of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, spoke today in this capital, official sources reported.

The meeting took place in the context of the 8th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, which brings together 33 high authorities from across the region.

The presidency detailed that in the meeting Maduro and Lula reviewed the strategic cooperation agenda between both countries, which reestablished diplomatic relations last year with the arrival of the Brazilian president to power, after winning the elections.

Both nations reached strategic agreements during a meeting held in May 2023, after an extensive work agenda developed by the two leaders.

The dignitaries signed then a memorandum of understanding on agri-food matters at the Itamaraty Palace, motivated by the political will to explore opportunities and deepen exchanges in the areas of agriculture, livestock, sovereignty, food and nutritional security, the source indicated.

Another document referred to the establishment of the Supervision and Monitoring Mechanism of the Brazil-Venezuela Bilateral Cooperation Program, in order to promote South-South technical cooperation, the exchange of knowledge and experiences to face current challenges.

Signs of advancing and deepening bilateral relations resulted in the arrival in Caracas last month of the new Brazilian ambassador in Caracas, Glivânia María de Oliveira, who presented her credentials to the Venezuelan head of state.
