During a phone call, the two presidents discussed the crisis in Gaza, which has been under Israeli fire since October 7, 2023.
According to a statement by Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy, El-Sisi warned of the dangerous consequences of the military escalation and attacks on civilians in clear violation of international law.
The text stated that the two sides discussed joint efforts to calm the situation in Gaza, reach a ceasefire, exchange prisoners, and allow the entry of humanitarian aid.
Fahmy noted that the two heads of State also stressed the need to prevent the expansion of the conflict in the region and agreed to continue consultations and coordination to restore security in the area.
Washington has repeatedly vetoed draft resolutions at the United Nations Security Council calling for an end to fighting in the coastal enclave, the action of which has caused questioning from the Palestinian authorities.
