Both programs have the financial support of the European Union (EU) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), according to a note issued by the FAO representatives in the Cuban capital.
Among the aforementioned resources, supplied to the Plant Health Research Institute (Inisav), are a freeze-dryer, refrigerated orbital sieve, mixers, scales, moisture analyzer and filters for fermenters, all of which are essential for the production of biopesticides.
This contribution will make it possible to establish more favorable environments for integrated pest management on more than 5,000 hectares of land in the beneficiary areas which will have a direct impact on producers and their families.
It is also expected to produce crops with reduced residue levels, which will promote food safety and have a positive impact on the health of the population.
The director of Inisav, Marlen Veitía, stated that the resources provided will benefit the quality and stable availability of the strains used in the production of bioproducts in Cuba, such as the formulations of the entomopathogenic bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis: Thurisave 24, 26 and 13.
