Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Mao Ning stressed that China’s cars are popular around the world “because they are the result of fierce market competition with technological innovation and excellent quality” and not due to the use of so-called “unfair practices.”
In addition, the spokeswoman highlighted China’s openness to global auto companies, including US-made vehicles, which “fully shared” the dividends of this large market.
“In contrast, the US has engaged in trade protectionism and set up obstacles, including discriminatory subsidy policies, to obstruct access to the US market for Chinese-made cars,” she added.
Mao rejected the politicization of economic-trade issues and urged Washington to respect the principles of fair competition, stop stretching the concept of national security too far, and end its discriminatory crackdown on domestic enterprises.
