The aid arrived in Latakia governorship in a plane laden with six tons of medicines and a ship with another 196 tons of medical equipment and supplies.
Health Minister Hassan Al-Ghabbash and Emirates Red Crescent Secretary-General Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri attended the shipment’s delivery, which included ten buses to transport the medical personnel in hospitals.
Al-Ghabbash stressed the importance of the assistance provided to support the medical sector in Syria, which is suffering from the effects of war, blockade, and the earthquake that hit the country in February 2023.
We appreciate the continuous support by the UAE and the Emirati people since the first moments of the earthquake disaster and the provision of assistance to the medical sector and the Syrian people, the minister said.
Following the earthquake, Abu Dhabi connected an air and sea bridge with more than 200 aircraft and several humanitarian aid ships to Syria and funded several projects to build houses for the victims.
