The former head of State (2008-2012) expects to receive in Cuba “a complete evaluation” of his current health, Dr. Jorge Querey argued, who is his family doctor and former senator of the opposition Frente Guasu Coalition that is led by Lugo, as newspaper ABC Color cited.
The possibility of a trip by Lugo to Cuba arranged by his family “is in progress,” following his invitation to Cuba for treatment after his stroke, which kept him away from politics, the Paraguayan specialist and political activist noted.
The former president, the doctor added is in “very good” health, and follows his regular check-up schedule from time to time, although two weeks ago he was admitted to the intensive care unit of a local health center for preventive monitoring.
Lugo, who won the 2008 Paraguayan elections and became the first president after 61 years in power of the ruling Colorado Party, spent six months in Argentina under a specialized program to rehabilitate his health after his stroke.
