Through a continuous effort to promote sustainable and responsible agricultural practices, representatives of the Coffee Association of El Salvador (Acafesal) together with the Sugar Association of El Salvador (AAES) and the Association of Sugar Cane Producers of El Salvador (Procaña), valued the benefits of using agro-industrial products.
During an event attended by the Vice President of the Republic, Félix Ulloa, the president of AAES, Mario Salavarria, the president of Acafesal, Sergio Ticas, and the president of Procaña, Oscar Orellana, among others, it was confirmed that adopting agro-ecological products in the cultivation of sugarcane and coffee proved to be an effective strategy.
Orellana said that the use of agro-ecological products allowed a 3 percent increase in production and greater profitability.
Meanwhile, Salavarria asserted that this type of inputs gave good results to the different sugarcane producers.
Anything that is good and increases the sector’s productivity we support as an association.
The key to this is to achieve greater efficiency, he said.
In turn, Ticas indicated that the agro-ecological products benefited the coffee growers to decontaminate the soils.
“On our way to this future, we have discovered the immense potential of agro-ecological products, both in coffee and in the cultivation of sugar cane and vegetables,” he said.
